Revit Architecture from Autodesk helped the architects from red_Point architects in the challenging reconstruction of the Baroque castle Radíč near Příbram
Software Revit Architecture saved architects up to a third of the time required for project processing.
The company Autodesk, a global leader in 2D and 3D design software for manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment, announced that red_Point architects, a leading Czech architectural and design office, utilized Revit Architecture software for the reconstruction of the Radíč castle near Příbram. The goal of the project was a challenging complete renovation of the historically protected Baroque castle, a two-story four-wing building with an inner arched courtyard. The castle reconstruction is currently underway with a planned completion this year. The complete execution of the project, whose main challenge was to connect the old architecture with new uses, in Revit software has saved an estimated up to one third of the time needed for its processing.
The entire project was created in the Revit Architecture software solution. 3D modeling in this solution allowed architects, follow-up specialists, and professions, among other things, to understand the spatial contexts of the historically refurbished building. Thanks to 3D visualizations, the client and representatives of the heritage institute were better and faster oriented in the project. The architects of the red_Point architects studio see a huge benefit of the Revit Architecture solution in supporting teamwork that the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method offers.
“The entire reconstruction of the castle is carried out in the spirit of maximum respect for the historically protected building. Although it has been refurbished many times over the previous centuries, we wanted our solution to minimally impact its overall appearance,” says Ing. Jan Klepal, chief engineer and founder of the red_Point Architect office. “On the other hand, within the scope of new functions, it was necessary to cover the inner courtyard, for instance. We also had to incorporate modern technologies necessary for its operation into the building. In this, the Revit Architecture software has significantly helped us.”
“The challenging construction and technical solution consisted, among other things, of atypical floor plans, irregular spaces, and also a new roofing of the inner courtyard. After more than half a year of work in the Revit Architecture software, we know that thanks to this solution we can manage not only new constructions but also such complex projects as the Radíč castle. Personally, I appreciated the ability to present graphic outputs not only to the client but also to the building authority and conservationists.
