JAP FUTURE is a Czech company with a long tradition that offers premium door systems and design products for modern interiors and exteriors. It focuses on technical precision and monitoring global trends, thereby offering a wide portfolio of exclusive products. The company's goal is to be an indispensable partner to architects and designers and to provide customers with solutions that combine top-notch design, functionality, and an individual approach. We spoke with Petr Paks, the managing director and majority owner of JAP FUTURE, about values, innovations, and the importance of collaboration with architects.

JAP FUTURE is a purely Czech company that has been operating in the market for over thirty years. What are the main goals and values of the company in the field of interior door manufacturing?
Interior doors – both hinged and sliding – represent an important part of our portfolio, but they are by no means the only product. Our offering is broad, allowing us to better manage fluctuations in the construction industry. Other premium products include hidden frames, sliding systems, the EFEKTA cladding system, railings, stairs, and the new entrance system LIBERTY. We also manufacture a range of building products, such as construction pockets or attic stairs. Our goal is to become an indispensable partner for architects and designers – in the area of design products for both interiors and exteriors. Not only in the Czech Republic but also in foreign markets.

What is your vision for the future and how do you plan to respond to changing market needs?
I monitor global trends in our field and look for ways to work with them locally, or even better – how to push them further. I do not hesitate to seize market opportunities that others may not see or want to acknowledge. In recent years, the company has become a leader in the door systems sector, and I am confident it will soon be a leader in the entrance systems segment as well. It fulfills me to co-create new premium products that are crucial for the company and guarantee sustainable development, leading to new products that improve people's daily lives through their quality, design, and other practical values.

What do you think distinguishes JAP brand products from competitors, and how do you strive to maintain your significant position in the market?
I perceive the distinction on two levels. We not only monitor global trends but also do everything we can to incorporate them into our offering in the shortest possible time. This allows us to create an important lead over competitors. Another significant distinction is our ability to offer customers a diverse range of design products made with technical precision and respecting current aesthetic trends. Additionally, we have perfected our production and related processes. We are a "one-stop shop", meaning that customers can resolve everything they need at once and unify individual elements into one harmonious whole. Furthermore, communicating with one company saves them time and costs.

What impact do modern technologies and design trends have on the development of your products, especially interior doors?
Timeless minimalist design is currently the main architectural trend that we respect and reflect in our premium products. For example, we can manufacture MASTER doors in an unparalleled height of up to 3.7 meters and offer coverings in various materials – glass, MDF in raw, lacquered, or veneered finishes, laminates, or magnetic boards. A new feature for this year is the covering of doors with textiles, leather, Latho veneer, or lacquered and frosted Flutes glass. For children's rooms, you can choose veneer on one side and durable laminate on the other. Additionally, we place the doors in hidden frames and clad the walls in the same décor so that everything aligns in one plane. This cannot be produced without modern technologies and know-how. We possess all necessary technologies in-house, and we have processes and management systems developed according to the automotive sector. The operation of the company allows us to focus on premium products made from premium materials and to manufacture custom-made products according to individual requirements.

I am intrigued by the entrance system LIBERTY, which stands out from the interior product line. How did this project come about?
Most of our products were developed in response to market demands. The LIBERTY entrance system is an exception because we stumbled upon it by chance. Initially, it was a renowned landscape architect who invited me to a meeting with the promise that he would show me something that no one in the world sells, but everyone needs. Imagine a house worth tens of millions of crowns, where the client wants a beautiful living hedge, but no one addresses how to incorporate a gate, a trash can, and other elements so that it doesn't spoil the overall impression. In less than two years, we developed a system that elegantly ensures all functions associated with home usage, such as a gate, trash can cover, package box, bell pole, mailbox, and covering unsightly electrical and gas distribution boxes. During development, we tested various materials before aluminum won out due to its durability. We also resolved fingerprint recognition and the integration of modules with any fence or standalone placement. No other company has such a comprehensive entrance system in their portfolio.

How important is collaboration with architects and designers for you?
Collaboration with architects and designers is crucial for us. In recent years, we have approached approximately four thousand architects and two thousand designers, actively collaborating with several hundred of them – primarily in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and even Dubai. We offer architects and designers premium products, attractive designs, high-quality craftsmanship, fair prices, short delivery times, and overall professional service. They no longer have to look for foreign manufacturers – in many respects, we offer more benefits, not just design ones, but also technical ones. We want to be in partnership with architects and designers not just as a manufacturer but also as a creator.

How are you managing to develop business abroad?
Covid and then the war in Ukraine caused us to quickly lose markets in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. This negatively affected our foreign trade, even though we export to 55 countries worldwide, mainly Italy, Israel, Poland, and Belgium. We have managed to partially compensate for the loss in the mentioned markets by focusing on the premium housing market in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, where we are concentrating on premium housing and planning to open a joint showroom in Dubai Marina with our partner development company Al HILAL HOMES. You need to tackle the mentality of local people with a great deal of patience, but now we are at a stage where we are already selling and my son Petr, who is responsible for foreign expansion in the company, is negotiating with other entities in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain. japfuture.cz
