The crying man, a poet, or also a successful promoter of his own work; these are just a few characteristics of Jan Zrzavý, one of our most significant visual artists of the 20th century.
Did you know that his paintings, along with the illustrations of Josef Lada, were among the most frequently reproduced works before the fall of communism and are now very popular even among forgers? But who was Jan Zrzavý?
Our walk will follow in his footsteps through Malá Strana, which served as a great inspiration for him, and where he lived for many years. However, we will first stop at Loretánské náměstí, which he loved and often painted. We will head towards Nový Svět to his first Prague studio and continue to Jánský vršek and the New Castle Stairs, where he lived. However, do not expect a celebratory ode to the artist. The walk "Zrzavý's Malá Strana" aims to present the work and extraordinarily colorful life of this personality comprehensively and in the broadest contexts.
Participation in the event is conditional upon purchasing a ticket. More information can be found on the organizer's website.
