Kolín - Today, the reconstructed Veigert House opened to the public at Karlovo náměstí in Kolín. The reconstruction, which took two years, cost the Central Bohemian Region over one hundred million crowns. The Veigert House has become the main building of the Regional Museum in Kolín. From today, visitors can also see an exhibition of the hundred most valuable items from the collections of the Regional Museum in Kolín and its branches - the Podlipan Museum in Český Brod and the Kouřimsko Museum in Kouřim.

About a thousand people attended the ceremonial opening of the Veigert House. "I am glad that there is such interest in the ceremonial opening. It shows that people care and that they are pleased with the museum," said the mayor of Kolín, Vít Rakušan (STAN).

For now, only some areas of the house are accessible to the public. Installations for exhibitions are being prepared in the other areas. Visitors will see the museum shop, a multifunctional hall in the new building, an exhibition hall featuring the exhibition Treasures from the Collections of the Regional Museum in Kolín, a room for educational programs, and restored corridors and staircases in the historic part of the building. People will also be able to peek into one of the representative rooms on the first floor, where the ceiling painting from the early 19th century has been restored.

In the exhibition, visitors will see approximately one hundred of the most valuable items from the museum's collection funds, many of which have undergone demanding restoration. Some items are being exhibited for the first time. Viewable pieces will include artworks, historical, artisanal, numismatic, and ethnographic artifacts, archaeological finds, and exhibits from the entomological collection.

The offices of the museum's staff and the information center, which is currently located on Na Hradbách street, will move to the Veigert House.

The Veigert House on Karlovo náměstí in Kolín was built in the second half of the 13th century. At the end of the 15th century, it was owned by Jakub Krčín the Elder from Jelčany, grandfather of the famous fish pond operator Jakub Krčín from Jelčany. In the first third of the 18th century, the house was owned by a city official and later administrator of the Radovesnice estate, Pavel Samuelis. During this time, a Baroque reconstruction was carried out. In the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century, the house belonged to the wealthy Veigert family. It was reconstructed into its current late Classicist form by the merchant Josef Turnau in 1863.

The museum in the Veigert House will be open from Tuesday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, and on weekends from 10:00 to 17:00. The basic entrance fee is 30 crowns, while children, students, and seniors will pay 15 crowns.
