Vranovice (Brno Region) - Vranovice in the Brno Region want to retain young residents and attract newcomers to live there. The town hall offers them building plots. In recent years, it has prepared and sold about 50 plots to interested builders, and is now offering another 14. There is interest in them. Thanks to their preparation and sale, the municipality has managed to stop the trend of declining population, Dagmar Humpolíková told ČTK on behalf of the town hall. According to Humpolíková, Vranovice had been declining for the past 40 years. However, this trend has turned around in the last three years - the population of the municipality has increased by about 150 to 2,075 people. The prepared plots for the construction of family homes are being purchased by locals as well as clients from Brno. They are attracted by the good transport connection to the regional city - the journey to the center takes about half an hour by car or train. "People live in the countryside, in nature, with a forest, Pálava, Nové Mlýny, bike paths, and wine trails nearby. They are half an hour from the center of Brno, yet it feels like they are on vacation,” said Humpolíková. The municipality used its own land in the preparation of the new residential zone and purchased part of it from private individuals. "The municipality prepares everything itself, without developers and intermediaries, to keep the price as low as possible,” Humpolíková stated. The town hall sells one square meter of land for 900 crowns. This way, it will recover the money that was invested in land purchases and network construction. Other municipalities in southern Moravia, such as Okrouhlá in Blansko and Hostěradice in Znojmo, are also engaging in land preparation. According to mayors, this is the only way to keep young people. However, the villages are generally more informed when planning new developments than they were in the 1990s, and they have strict rules for new houses and their fencing. They want to prevent satellite towns from emerging in their backyards. Usually, for example, bright colors on facades and high fences are prohibited. "To ensure that impenetrable residences do not arise, but rather the village character of Vranovice remains preserved,” added Humpolíková.
