Vranovice (Brno region) - Today in Vranovice near Brno, the largest investment in recent decades was launched. The area of the former agricultural cooperative in the center of the village has begun to be transformed into a complex for seniors. The construction costs will reach approximately 45 million crowns, while the annual budget of Vranovice is not even half of this amount. The municipality had the former farm buildings demolished and the rubble removed, said Dagmar Humpolíková from the town hall to ČTK. Today, representatives of the town hall symbolically laid the cornerstone.

The core of the complex will be a nursing home, which is also intended to serve as a community center for older people living in the vicinity. A park is to be created around the home where seniors can spend their free time.
The residents of Vranovice tried to obtain a subsidy for the construction of the home, but all attempts failed, according to Mayor Jan Helikar (ODS). Vranovice will take out a loan from a bank to finance the construction, which will be repaid over 20 years. However, according to the mayor, the future operation is calculated so that the rent paid by the residents will cover the repayments. Paradoxically, the crisis has contributed to favorable financing, as construction companies have few contracts and are competing more than ever on price. According to initial estimates, the construction of the home was supposed to cost 72 million crowns excluding VAT, but the winning supplier offered a price of 42 million crowns. Overall, according to the mayor, the costs for the construction and equipment of the building should not exceed 45 million crowns. The building is expected to be completed in about a year.
The home will have 56 apartments for individuals and married couples. The building will also include a clubroom for seniors from the surrounding area and a kitchen with a daily capacity of 300 meals. Lunches will also be provided to the Vranovice elementary and kindergarten schools from here. The building is also supposed to house a pharmacy and doctors.
According to the mayor, the project has several benefits. It will create places for seniors, for which there is demand. At the same time, it will help Vranovice solve the problems with the dilapidated agricultural complex in the middle of the village. "The brownfield that has hindered the development of the center of the village for several years will disappear," added Helikar.
