Třinec (Frýdek-Místek) - A smaller training ice hockey rink was officially opened today in Třinec. The main investor of the construction, with a total budget of 100 million crowns, was the HC Oceláři Třinec club.
The Silesian club thus completed the ice hockey complex around the multifunctional Werk Arena, which was put into operation in the summer of 2014. The construction of the Mini Werk Arena, as the hall is officially named, lasted a little over a year. It began last April, and in May of this year, the extra league players from Třinec already took to the ice for their first training sessions during the trial operation. The new hall is immediately adjacent to the larger arena. "The area of the two-story hall is 5,300 square meters. In the ground floor next to the ice surface, locker rooms and social facilities for athletes were created; on the second floor, there is a gym and a classroom for athletes, facilities for coaches, and a restaurant for the public," said the spokesperson for HC Oceláři Třinec, Tomáš Želazko.
During the main winter season, the hall is to serve young hockey players, figure skaters, and the public. The extra league hockey players have their permanent facilities in the Werk Arena.
