Třinec (Frýdeckomístecko) - The construction of a new multifunctional hall was initiated today in Třinec with the laying of the foundation stone. The multifunctional stadium, which will cost 700 million crowns, will be named Werk Aréna and will, among other things, become a new home for the Třinec hockey players. The three-story hall, which is expected to open in June 2014, will have a capacity of 5,200 seats.

To cover the budget, the hockey club Oceláři Třinec, which was the contractor for the project, as well as commercial sources from its partners, will contribute. Nearly a fifth of the target amount has been secured by investors from the Regional Operational Program of Moravian-Silesia, which is funding the project with 126 million crowns.
The stadium will primarily be used by the Třinec hockey players, but the operator aims to fill the capacity with other indoor sports and concerts as well. "Through the new arena, we want to bring Třinec hockey to dignified conditions, but not just hockey, because this is a multifunctional building that will also serve other sports and, of course, culture," said Jan Czudek, vice president of HC Oceláři Třinec.
The general contractor selected through the bidding process is the company Syner, which today began ground works. "However, local companies will also participate in the construction, so this investment will help increase employment in the region," Czudek added.
