Prague – The Central Bohemian Region will prepare a digital map that will capture the layout of all types of networks and technical infrastructure in Central Bohemia. Among other things, it should facilitate and expedite the preparation of construction projects, both public and private. The regional government will utilize a European grant of 200 million crowns, but additional investments will likely be necessary. The map is expected to be operational by June 2023, said Jiří Snížek (Pirates), the regional councilor for regional development, to ČTK.
According to Snížek, all regions will create a so-called digital technical map, but some will join forces, with the Central Bohemian Region collaborating with Prague. It will encompass the infrastructure for electricity, internet, sewage, gas, water supply, and other technical structures, including those that are planned. "Anyone who is going to design something will see it, and they won’t have to ask for information. It is part of the digitalization of the building process," stated Snížek. Until now, it has been necessary to inquire with individual organizations that own the networks; the Central Bohemian Region provides information in collaboration with a specialized company.
The regional government will coordinate with network owners to update the digital map with the current status and upcoming projects. However, they first need to announce a tender, and the actual processing will likely begin in the fall. The project has already started in Prague, and according to the councilor, the Central Bohemian Region will benefit from the collaboration by using the system and personnel who will already have experience in editing the map.
