The competition for the best restored monument in Southern Moravia was won by Švýcárna

Adamov (Blanensko) - The competition for the best restored monument in Southern Moravia last year was won by the Swiss Chalet near Adamov. It is a building constructed in 1850 in the Swiss mountain style, which once served as an iron bath with a restaurant. Now the organization Brontosaurus is turning it into an ecological center. The public voted on the best restored monument. The results are available on the website of the South Moravian Region.
  The Swiss Chalet is unmistakable with its architecture. It has already appeared in several films. For many years, the building was owned by the Socialist Union of Youth (SSM) and after 1989, it was the subject of lengthy legal disputes. The building is part of the historical metal works site Stará huť, which is the oldest technical monument in Moravia.
  Brontosaurus is trying to transform the Swiss Chalet into a modern eco-center with classrooms, a tea room, club rooms, and quality accommodation facilities, which will also serve for organizing nature schools. Environmentalists want to preserve a traditional restaurant in the building as well. The prize for first place is a donation of 150,000 crowns. They will likely use it for the renovation of the hayloft, which will become a classroom.
  A total of 30 objects and artworks were nominated for the award for the best-restored monument. The Swiss Chalet received 2,241 votes and won decisively. The best-restored work of art, for which the owner will receive 50,000 crowns, is a restored statue of St. John of Nepomuk from Jedovnice. The money will go to the town.
  Last year, the main prize went to the castle in Letovice, located in Blanensko, which its owner successfully restored literally from ruins. A wedding suite was created at the castle from the prize money.
