Prostějov - The Prostějov city hall today completed repairs to the area in front of the local train station, which had been in poor condition for years. The reconstruction included, for example, the roads and sidewalks in front of the train station. The investment amounted to approximately 17 million crowns, with more than half of the costs covered by a European grant. This was stated by city hall spokesperson Jana Gáborová. The reconstruction, which included repairs to Sladkovského and Martinákova streets, began at the turn of May and June. "The road and sidewalks have been completely reconstructed over a total area of about 1500 square meters. The barrier-free solution is supplemented by warning and signaling strips. Cyclists can pass more safely on the new bike path," said Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Fišer. The modifications also included the construction of new bays for bus stops with covered waiting areas, parking spaces, public lighting, street furniture, and the drainage of the local roads. The city hall had the area in front of the station renovated with the help of a grant from the European Regional Development Fund. The contribution amounts to 65 percent of the grant.
