Prague - People planning the construction of a family house next year will pay significantly more for building permits than before. Currently, they paid 300 crowns for a permit at the building authority, but starting from the New Year, it will be 5000 crowns. The fee for a garage construction permit will rise to 1000 crowns.

The increase in fees for building permits is included in the amendment to the building law, which was signed by President Václav Klaus in the autumn. However, this is not the only change that the regulation has brought.
The amendment aims, for example, to simplify the approval of constructions. The law expands the list of cases where an area decision or area consent is not required for construction. The amendment shortens some deadlines in spatial planning and clarifies the procedure for conducting simplified spatial proceedings. According to lawmakers, it is intended to enable people to comment on proposals for spatial plans at a stage where such was not previously possible.
Many municipalities also welcomed the change to the building law. The amendment extends the deadline for municipalities to adopt spatial plans from 2015 to 2020, allowing them to construct certain buildings without a spatial plan for up to eight years.
