We cordially invite you to a guided walk, the launch of the bulletin Beautiful Ostrava, and an educational panel
Following the Traces of Ostrava's Walls and Gates - a walk, the launch of the bulletin and educational panel

March 21, 2017, at 6:00 PM - the walk will be led by historian Romana Rosová. Meeting at 6:00 PM at the Sýkora Bridge.
At the launch of the spring bulletin Beautiful Ostrava, we will commemorate the 750th anniversary of the first mention of Moravská Ostrava. Moravská Ostrava acquired stone walls with three gates - Kostelní, Hrabovská, and Přívozská in the second half of the 14th century. The walls and gates were gradually demolished during the first third of the 19th century as they hindered the development and expansion of the emerging industrial city. During the walk, we will briefly outline the history of the city fortifications, recall the course of the walls, walk part of their route, and stop at the locations where the gates stood. Finally, we will show the last preserved section of the city wall near St. Wenceslas Church and in the premises of the Ostrava-Opava Diocese.
Organized by the Antiquarian Bookstore and Club Fiducia in cooperation with the beautification association For a Beautiful Ostrava.
We thank the Telepace association, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the Foundation for Czech Architecture for their support.
