Ostrava - After many years, Ostrava could finally rid itself of the unfinished skeleton of the building next to the regional office, which was created before 1989 and spoils one of the busy spots in the city. The city hall is currently looking for interested buyers for this skeleton along with the land. At the same time, it is also offering two other lucrative plots in the city center for sale, Mayor Petr Kajnar said to journalists today. The sale of the plots could generate several tens of millions of crowns for the city. Interested parties must apply by mid-May. The city is already recording 13 interested parties for the purchase of the building's skeleton, where the previous city administration wanted to establish the Center for Administrative Activities. However, after a change in leadership, the city withdrew from this plan. Establishing the center would require a huge financial investment. In evaluating the plots, the city relied on expert assessments. The minimum value of the skeleton, including the plots, is approximately 26 million crowns. The city hall's management wants to select the new owner not only based on price but also on the submitted projects. This is to prevent the building from being used for inappropriate purposes. The mayor believes that offices could be created in it, for example. Another of the lucrative plots that the city is offering for sale is located in the area of Edvard Beneš Square in the city center. So far, 16 applicants have expressed interest in it. The price per square meter has been set at 9,000 crowns, making these likely the most expensive plots in the city at present. The total area is just under 5,000 square meters, and the city could thus obtain at least 45 million crowns from the sale. In the city center, plots are also offered for sale adjacent to the busy intersection of Českobratrská and Nádražní streets. For these, the city could collect at least 3.7 million crowns. So far, nine interested parties have applied.
