Opava - The city of Opava has called on residents to donate old chairs. It wants to furnish the interior of the cinema Mír, which is set to undergo reconstruction in the spring and summer of next year. Lada Dobrovolná, a spokesperson for the Opava town hall, said this today. "The cinema Mír, in its current form, was built in the 1960s. Even after the reconstruction using modern materials, we would like to commemorate the time of the cinema's creation. Various retro elements will serve this purpose, including chairs placed in the cinema foyer," said Jana Foltysová, head of the mayor's office.
The city is interested in certain types of chairs. "Because these chairs are no longer produced, we are appealing to the citizens of the city to donate chairs if they have them in their possession. We would like to have them repaired and complement the cinema's interior with them," Foltysová stated.
Images of the chairs the city is interested in can be found on the city's website www.opava-city.cz. Foltysová asks residents who have such furniture at home and decide to donate it to the city to send a photo of the chair to the email jana.foltysova@opava-city.cz. "The chair will be evaluated by an architect who is preparing the interior design," Foltysová noted. If the city is interested in the chair, it will arrange transport with the donor.
