NČA is announcing a selection process for a gallery manager – operator of the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague and the Architecture Gallery in Brno. Given the fact that the current gallery managers were selected in a competition in 2001, and the ten-year period seems appropriate, the board of the foundation decided to announce a new selection process. The gallery spaces will be available starting in January 2011. Both galleries are focused on presenting mainly contemporary Czech and foreign architecture. They should be active centers where professionals (architects, designers, urban planners, and students), institutions, and government bodies, as well as firms and companies whose activities are directly related to architecture, will meet. Activities from other fields that are closely related to architecture and that expand the understanding of its societal dimension (sociology, ecology) would also be welcomed. In addition to organizing exhibitions, the galleries should actively communicate with the public by organizing lectures and meetings on current industry topics.
It is not excluded that both galleries could be operated by the same entity.

Both galleries have been renovated. If interested, a tour of the spaces is possible upon prior arrangement, contact M. Krátká +420604208545.
Economic conditions: The exhibition areas of the galleries will be rented to the operators for a symbolic 1 CZK per year; the foundation will co-finance operational costs through an extraordinary grant. Moreover, gallery managers may obtain grants for individual gallery projects based on participation in the selection process regularly announced by the foundation. Both galleries are located in properties owned by NČA, and these properties are insured as real estate by the owner. However, the insurance of movable property, operation, and execution of exhibitions is the responsibility of the gallery manager – operator. The selected operator will therefore be required to obtain such insurance at an appropriate amount.
For informational purposes, we provide an overview of operational costs and the amount of granted subsidies for the last three years.
