Prague - The city company Výstaviště Praha will continue this year with the repairs of the Holešovice Marketplace and the Bubeneč exhibition grounds, which it manages. At the exhibition grounds, it primarily aims to complete ongoing projects, such as the replacement of public lighting and the renovation of parking lots. A complete reconstruction of four halls is planned for the marketplace. This year, the renovated former meat market should also open there. CTK was informed by the spokeswoman of Výstaviště Praha, Linda Antony.
"In 2026, Výstaviště Praha will focus primarily on completing already initiated projects and implementing technical adjustments related to the future operation of the Industrial Palace," Antony stated regarding the exhibition grounds. In addition to lighting and parking lots, the company aims to complete the renovation of Pavilion J for the Czech Police. The chairman of the board of Výstaviště Praha, Tomáš Hübl, mentioned that adjustments to the area between the tram stop and the Industrial Palace are also planned.
"At the Holešovice marketplace, gradual repairs of individual halls as well as interspaces continue," Hübl said. The company is preparing a complete reconstruction of halls 2, 24, 26, and 35. This year, it will pay approximately 56 million Czech crowns for preparatory work. There are also plans for construction modifications of halls 7, 8, 9, 19, and 20 for about 30 million crowns. Among others, cycling centers, Alza.cz, and the Jatka78 theater are located in the mentioned halls.
"This year, the former meat market should finally open, into which the city has invested more than 250 million crowns in reconstruction," said Prague councilor Adam Zábranský (Pirates). According to an earlier statement from the company, a restaurant operated by Zátiší Group should be located in the marketplace area.
Last year, Výstaviště Praha invested over 137 million crowns into both areas. This does not include the renovation of the Industrial Palace, which is directly financed by the city. In the marketplace area, for example, the company completed the renovation of halls 27 and 28, which now host gastronomic establishments. The renovation of hall 1, which houses the information center, is also completed. Among other things, the exhibition grounds renovated the bike park, completed the repair of facades and toilets in the Lapidarium, and the sound system in Pavilion B.
Both areas saw an increase in visitors last year, with the marketplace up by ten percent and the exhibition grounds by 18 percent. A total of 2.99 million people visited the marketplace last year, of which 1.73 million visits lasted 20 minutes or longer. The exhibition grounds saw 2.97 million people, with 2.16 million staying more than 20 minutes.
