Prague - The monumental memorial on Vítkov Hill in Prague plans to awaken from its lethargy for several nights an association with an obscure-sounding name, Depressive Children Longing for Money. Its members have previously realized projects presenting theater in unconventional spaces. The association's spokesperson, Jakub Čermák, told ČTK today that the National Museum, as the administrator of the site, has allowed them to hold a cycle of theatrical performances, Nights in the Mausoleum, in this unique location. "The goal of young artists in the planned cycle is to present the individual spaces through theatrical productions, to bring them to life, and to offer a different experience of the architecture each time. Audience members who visit all parts of the cycle will thus see most of the interior of the memorial, which is only occasionally accessible," Čermák said to ČTK. As part of the program, from mid-May to mid-June, plays such as The Third Sector by contemporary German author Dey Loher, The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe, We Invite You to Celebrate Ludwig's Return based on Thomas Bernhard, and Camus's Caligula will be performed. The cycle has been supported by the Foundation for Czech Architecture from its foundation program. Loher's The Third Sector will be performed on May 16 and will kick off the entire cycle. The other three projects will then have eight reprises until June 15. The association, Depressive Children Longing for Money, supports interdisciplinary artistic projects in the fields of music, theater, visual arts, and audiovisuals. It fosters connections primarily between Prague and Plzeň, from where most of its members come. It has realized its projects, for example, in the spaces of the Karlín Music Theater and the former train station building in Plzeň - South Suburb. On its website www.depresivnideti.eu, it provides information about a “living room theater” project called We Invite You to Celebrate Ludwig's Return based on Thomas Bernhard. Due to the limited number of seats in the apartments where the performances take place, however, it is not possible to publicly announce it. "If you are interested in visiting, please contact us at our email address and we will offer you the nearest available date," they state.
