The Brno regional branch of the Czech Republic Employment Office has a new building

Brno - The Brno regional office of the labor office has a new building. It stands not far from the city center next to the judicial complex on Polní Street. The building cost 182 million crowns, over 100 million for the construction came from European Union funds. The building was opened today by representatives of the office in the presence of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (ČSSD).
    The new building is partially intended to replace the building on Křenová Street, which needs renovation. In the new location, the labor office will assist people mainly with job searching.
    At the end of the month, labor offices recorded 73,200 unemployed people in South Moravia. Since January, the number of unemployed in the region has been decreasing. However, it still remains one of the highest in the last 20 years. 9.2 percent of the working-age population is without a job here.
    The labor office has been looking for a more suitable building in Brno since the 1990s. The need for new space was confirmed also by the transfer of the agenda of non-insurance social benefits from municipalities to the labor office. The number of clients at the office has significantly increased.
    "The unfavorable development of unemployment and the gradual increase in the activities of the labor office has caused a significant deterioration in the comfort of working with clients in the areas of information, counseling, training, and mediation services," stated Josef Bürger, who leads the Brno branch of the office.
    According to Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jan Marek, people will welcome that they can now find the services of the labor office in one place. "From experience, I can confirm that for many people even traveling to the offices can be quite financially burdensome," said Marek. The state also plans to renovate the building on Křenová, where all agendas for material need benefits will then move. Until now, the office has operated in several locations in Brno.
    Sobotka stated today in Brno that labor offices and employment policy are a priority for the current government. The new building in Brno is reportedly also proof that European Union money can be used meaningfully and effectively for citizens.
