Brno - The Brno Employment Office has announced a tender for the construction of a new headquarters. It is expected to cost around 250 million crowns. The construction will be funded from EU resources. It is set to begin later this year. Jan Marek, director of the regional office of the Employment Office in Brno, told ČTK this information.
The Employment Office announced a public contract above the limit at the beginning of the week. Companies can apply for the tender until September 29. The new office headquarters is to be located near the Brno judicial complex close to the city center. It is expected to be completed in 2013 and designed for 260 employees.
Currently, officials work in several locations in Brno, which is set to change. "We provide employment services for about 20,000 unemployed individuals at the facility on Křenová Street. The building is in poor technical condition and does not meet capacity requirements," Marek told ČTK. According to him, the search for new premises in Brno has been a long-term issue discussed since the late 1990s.
The new headquarters will also include space for the Brno - countryside branch. What will happen to the spaces currently used by the Employment Office, Marek did not want to comment on today. "I wouldn't dare to estimate that. The building on Křenová needs renovation. It's up to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to decide," he stated.
Marek has led the Brno branch of the Employment Office since the end of last year when he replaced the dismissed Jiří Uklein. The reason for the personnel change was repeated incorrect submission of requests for the project of the new office building.
