Aš (Chebsko) - The Aš Town Hall wants to modify the center of the village of Doubrava into a small spa town. The project, which includes the construction of a colonnade, parking lot, natural amphitheater, and information center, is expected to cost between 15 and 20 million crowns, mayor Dalibor Blažek (ODS) said today to ČTK.

The project, which is currently being assessed for its environmental impact, is based on the overall village and natural character of Doubrava, which is intended to become a spa town in the future. A parking lot with a bus turning area is to be created near the center of the village. A spring, which was recognized as therapeutic in 2008, will be covered by a gazebo, and a small single-story colonnade with a semicircular floor plan on wooden columns is to be built next to it.
An information center with restrooms is also set to be constructed there, and nearby a natural amphitheater will be created. "It will not be a large amphitheater like the one in Loket, but a smaller one to fit into the environment of Doubrava. It could be suitable, for example, for folk concerts and similar events," Blažek stated.
The city plans to apply for a grant together with the neighboring Saxon spa town of Bad Elster from the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Goal 3. "Given the amount of financial resources still available, it probably won't happen in this planning period. But we expect that the next planning period will support more of these cross-border projects," Blažek added.
