Department store by Renzo Piano

On September 7, a new department store of the Peek & Cloppenburg company, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, opened in Cologne. An interview with the architect about the building was published by Kölner Stadt Anzeiger - here. By the way, he writes about the first site visit in May 1999 and how he enjoys observing people's behavior in his buildings: “You know, when I was here for the first time, I was much more surprised by the people than the buildings. I love people, and that’s no joke. When we arrived yesterday, I stood in front of the department store for 15 minutes and watched people. I watched the short stories of passersby for 15 minutes.”
