Cesky Budejovice - The reconstruction of the crematorium in Ceske Budejovice at the cemetery of Saint Otýlie should start next year. The city has selected the winning project for the reconstruction. The costs for the interior restoration will be approximately 20 million crowns. This was stated by the deputy mayor of Ceske Budejovice, Petr Maroš (Our Czech Republic).
"By autumn, we should know the specific form of the entire project, including details. For now, we have a study available. The reconstruction should then take place next year," the deputy said.
The current crematorium was established at the end of the 1970s. The ceremony hall has a capacity of 50 seated guests. Ceske Budejovice modernized the crematorium area in 2011. However, that project was related to the renewal of technical facilities, including a new cremation oven. "The current state of the interior is completely inadequate. We want to prepare a more dignified environment for the final farewell," stated Maroš. He added that the external appearance of the crematorium and the mourning hall will not change.
The cemetery of Saint Otýlie is located near Pražská street close to the city's exit to Tábor. Its construction began 138 years ago and was completed a year later, when operations began on the site. The Ceske Budejovice funeral home also operates cemeteries in the Mladé district and in the city enclave Třebotovice.
