Prague - The Trade Fair Palace will traditionally host an exhibition of works by fresh graduates from eighteen studios of the Academy of Art in Prague (AVU) from Friday until the end of July. This year, 35 students will exhibit, for whom this showcase at the venue of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art of the National Gallery in Prague marks a festive conclusion to both the academic year and their entire studies. Admission to the exhibition is free.

Graduates from painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, restoration, architecture, new media, conceptual and intermedia creation present a diverse installation curated by Zdeněk Beran, the head teacher of the School of Classical Painting Techniques at AVU.
The largest number of exhibiting graduates comes from the School of New Media, led by Michael Bielický, where seven graduates completed their studies this year. New media is also taught at AVU by artist Veronika Bromová, from whose studio two students graduated this year. Eight students are leaving four painting studios. Six graduates are departing from two studios teaching restoration techniques, while other studios see one or two students leave.
The Academy of Art was founded at the initiative of the Private Society of Patriotic Friends of Art in 1800. In 1896, the school was nationalized, and in 1919 it came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and National Enlightenment as a higher education institution.
The 200th anniversary of the academy's founding was marked by a large exhibition in the Waldstein Riding School in 2000. Nearly all its significant educators were represented with their works, including figures such as Julis Mařák, Max Švabinský, Václav Brožík, Vratislav Nechleba, and Otakar Španiel.
The new direction and educational program of the academy after 1990 were primarily determined by Milan Knížák, Zdeněk Beran, Hugo Demartini, and Jiří Sopko.
