Prague - The Prague City Hall has announced a tender for the preparation of project documentation for the renovation of Vinohradská Street. In an interview with ČTK, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Development Petra Kolínská (Greens/Tri Coalition) stated this. The contractor will have to adhere to the form of the reconstruction as proposed by the conceptual study developed by the City Institute of Planning and Development (IPR).
"Part of the assignment is that the selected company must respect the conceptual study and must have sufficiently experienced architects in its team, not just transport engineers," said Kolínská. According to her, such conditions have been included in the procurement documentation for the first time. Companies can submit bids until the end of August.
The reconstruction concerns the section between Legerova and Jana Želivského streets. The project study was developed by IPR and approved by the city council last summer. The adjustments to the busy thoroughfare, including a new tram line, are expected to cost between 548 and 610 million crowns. Work is expected to begin in the second half of next year, with completion scheduled for the end of 2020. According to Kolínská, the work will be done in stages considering traffic.
The study includes new arrangements for tram stops, the construction of new pedestrian crossings, and ensuring greater accessibility. Plans also include new benches, the renovation of sidewalks, and the planting of 85 trees. The impetus for the adjustments to the thoroughfare is the necessity of a general reconstruction of the tram line.
