On Thursday, June 10, 2021, a finissage of the exhibition project COMMUNE BUILDS - Vienna Model of Supported Living - A Successful Story was held at the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica (ŠVK) in the presence of the Ambassador of Austria to Slovakia, H. E. Mrs. Margit Bruck-Friedrich.

Before the finissage and the conclusion of the presentation of the model of supported living in Vienna, the director of the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica (ŠVK), Blanka Snopková, guided the ambassador through the library, where they visited the Music Atrium, the courtyard of Maria Theresa with a summer program, and specialized language study rooms that are represented in the library.

After visiting the exhibition space of the library ŠVK Gallery in the attic and the universal study room, one of the three originals of the rare Luther Bible from 1555 and a book from the collection of the Seminar Library with Austrian provenance or binding to Austria was presented to the ambassador. The oldest print dates back to the late 16th century and its author is Georg Scherer, a Jesuit who spent most of his life in Vienna.

The finissage itself, accompanied by the musical group Tempo d'Amore, was held in the spirit of presenting the model of social, supported, and affordable housing in Vienna and its 100-year development, which has potential for development and implementation also in other countries. Sustainable support for housing, emphasis on the comprehensive quality of architecturally shaped urban spaces achieved through architectural competition, thorough connection and integration of residential buildings into the city's infrastructure, participation with residents and future users of apartments from the initial design to the real fulfillment of today's vision of Smart Cities, and much more was inspiring and beneficial for the residents of Banská Bystrica.

With a separate speech by architect Dušan Čupka, sharing his perspective from years of architectural experience in Slovakia contributed to anchoring the theme of social housing, which has long been a significantly undervalued and trivialized topic in Slovakia.

The exhibition project, which was presented in Bratislava and Košice, will move from Banská Bystrica to the cultural center Akropola in Kremnica during the summer. The State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica has recorded books and publication materials accompanying the exhibition project COMMUNE BUILDS, permanently accessible for loan to readers and interested parties.

The report from the event was supported and is recorded in the RTVS archive (from 11:43).
