In 2012, the EPC method was approved by Government Resolution No. 109 of the Czech Republic on February 22, 2012, as a suitable financing method for projects of contributory organizations, enabling municipalities and cities interested in the renewal of public lighting to utilize it.
In the replacement of outdated public lighting systems, the company ECOLED SOLUTIONS s.r.o., specializing within the holding, offers municipalities not only the aforementioned activities under the EPC method but also the inventory of public lighting and free loan of samples of new fixtures.
In public lighting, the EPC method is usually utilized in combination with the so-called transferred management of energy systems. Transferred management of public lighting is based on a contractual relationship, under which the management, operation, and maintenance of the lighting system (including energy costs) are transferred from the user to the contractual partner.
The contract is concluded for a fixed term, usually 10 years, depending on the scope of the renewal of the lighting system. After its expiration, the lighting system is transferred to the ownership of the user.
During the term of the contract, the user pays a monthly rent, which includes the aforementioned operating costs. The contractual partner guarantees that the monthly rent will not exceed the previous monthly operating costs (energy + regular maintenance) of the user.
