Brno – Today, after several years of construction, the Clarion Hotel opened at the site of the former Metropol Hotel in Dornych Street. The four-star accommodation facility has over 200 rooms, and its operator is CPI Hotels. The new hotel has a congress capacity of 1,300 guests, which is the largest in South Moravia, said CPI Group spokesperson Jakub Velen in a press release.
Such large congress capacities have been lacking in Brno hotels so far. For example, the International offers 700 seats, while the Courtyard by Mariott, which opened ten years ago, offers 400. The congress hall in Pavilion E at the exhibition center has 1,000 seats.
The newly opened hotel thus expands the offer of Brno hotels, which accommodate both business clients and, for example, foreign tourists. "Brno has long been among the progressive cities in the Czech Republic, yet there was a lack of a hotel capable of serving really large congresses at a top level. This hotel fills that gap and opens up new opportunities for the city in the area of international events," believes Jan Kratina, the CEO of CPI Hotels.
The hotel offers 201 rooms in several categories, the restaurant can accommodate 174 guests, and parking spaces are located in underground garages.
CPI Hotels, which is part of the CPI Property Group, operates nearly 40 hotels under various brands and is the largest hotel group in the Czech Republic. It has hotels in 15 cities across six countries. In Brno, it also owns the Quality Hotel, former Holiday Inn near the Brno exhibition center. It was purchased from the Brno Trade Fairs in 2019. Currently, it is closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in the third quarter of next year.
