Prague - The Prague City Hall will adjust the design of the future metro station D Písnice to comply with the urban study developed in the past. This was approved today by the city councilors. The adjustments to the original project will be carried out by the transport company (DPP) and will include the addition of a northern metro vestibule, the construction of a square, or modifications to the building for P+R parking and a bus terminal.
The DPP adjustments will be implemented in cooperation with the City Hall, the City Institute of Planning and Development, and also with the landowners in the vicinity of the station, which are the companies CIB Rental and SAPARIA. According to the approved material, it is advisable to initiate the adjustments now so that the station can be constructed and put into operation ideally together, but no later than a year after the launch of the section of line D between Pankrác and Libuš.
"The construction of private entities in the affected area will follow the construction of the metro," the approved document further states. According to it, the city is also considering the possibility of building a new town hall for the Prague-Libuš district at the station. In 2021, the city leadership approved an urban study for the future station and the construction in its vicinity and is preparing changes to the zoning plan accordingly.
The construction of line D of the metro began in 2022. Builders are constructing a one-kilometer section between the stations Pankrác and Olbrachtova, with the second section planned to connect Olbrachtova to Nové Dvory. However, this has been delayed due to disputes with the antimonopoly office, and DPP has still not awarded the contract even after three and a half years since the tender was announced.
The third section of the line will run from Nové Dvory to the Písnice Depot, thus completing the first section. According to the original schedule, this section was supposed to start operating in 2029, but it is now expected to be in 2034. Following this, the construction of another section is planned between Pankrác and náměstí Míru, with a longer-term plan to extend the line to náměstí Republiky.
