The Czech Chamber of Architects revealed twenty-five works nominated for the shortlist at the nomination evening of the 10th Czech Architecture Award in the presence of international jurors. The name of the main winner and other finalists will be ceremoniously announced on November 13, 2025, at a gala evening in Forum Karlín. At the nomination evening, held on June 19, 2025, at the Uhelný mlýn in Libčice nad Vltavou, the ČKA Honor was awarded, and the Award for Exceptional Achievement in Architecture was presented, while for the first time in the history of the ČCA, public voting was also initiated.

The five-member international jury selected twenty-five realizations from 271 submissions for the 10th year of the Czech Architecture Award, which stand out for their architectural quality, sensitive relationship to the surroundings, and clear social impact. The nomination itself is a great success and confirms the high level and significance of these works on a European scale.

It is confirmed that Czech architects can sensitively complement existing buildings with new functions and that the results of their work (whether it involves reconstructions, extensions, completions, or conversions) are worthy of recognition. Among the nominees, we can find, for example, the restoration of the Mill Gate with a transformer station, the reconstruction of a train station warehouse in Řevnice, the conversion of former water towers in Brno, or a combination of reconstruction and extension of the industrial production building of the company Era.

There is also a strong representation of residential buildings, reflecting the structure of the submissions. The selection includes both individual family homes (e.g., a villa in a garden city, the Sidonius villa, Oskar's house, or a house in Polanka nad Odrou) as well as smaller recreational buildings (Ateliér, Veritas) and larger apartment buildings (Victoria Palace, Nové Lauby). The NOOX Living project deserves attention as it offers a new model of affordable urban housing.

The jury also recognized buildings where quality architectural solutions combine with significant social impact. Among the nominees are civic facilities such as the children's hospice House for Julia, the Parukářka forest kindergarten, the extension of the studio of the Faculty of Education at MU in Brno, and a home for the elderly combined with a kindergarten. A strong emphasis was also placed on public spaces - nominations were awarded to the Gate to Borský Park in Plzeň, the square in the village of Příšovice, and the revitalization of Moravian Square in Brno, which emerged from an architectural competition confirmed by the ČKA, for which it also received the MMR Award last year (note: this partner award does not restrict the possibility of resubmitting the realization).

There are also examples of infrastructural buildings (e.g., a footbridge in Lužec nad Vltavou), small architecture, and design projects (the Chapel of Our Lady Na Pískách, the Tea House Pavilion, the St. Wenceslas Grill in the Church of St. Bartolomej) as well as a landscape project focused on anti-erosion measures in Vohančice near Brno.

"In September, the members of the international jury will personally visit all 25 nominated buildings across the Czech Republic, allowing them to assess the actual realization and evaluate their contribution in the context of the place. Based on this, the jury will determine the finalists and select the main prize winner. The results will be ceremoniously announced during the gala evening of the Czech Architecture Award, which will take place on November 13, 2025," explained Dagmar Mošnerová, the manager of the Czech Architecture Award, about the further evaluation process.

Jury's Commentary on All Nominated Works

Ateliér, Stříbrná Skalice
It is a sympathetic building that is very striking in its simplicity. It was built using recycled materials and with significant help from family and friends.

Block of Nové Lauby, Ostrava
The Block of Nové Lauby sensitively relates to the historical context with its scale and proportions while simultaneously bringing a modern architectural concept.

Gate to Borský Park, Plzeň
A sympathetic and modest volume that separates the city from the park while clearly representing a readable entrance to greenery that encompasses multiple functions. From an urbanistic perspective, it is a successful response to a fragmented context using minimal means.

Children's Hospice House for Julia, Brno
Great attention was paid to details in the design, allowing the authors to sensitively approach the demanding purpose of this location. The slopes of the terrain are optimally utilized to achieve the desired sense of safety.

Home for the Elderly with Kindergarten in Horní Jirčany, Jesenice
The combination of a kindergarten and housing for the elderly is a bold choice, but it beautifully connects functions. The design of both parts exhibits similarities, yet differs in details and materials used.

Oskar's House, Borotín
Oskar is a small house with a discreet exterior that blends into its surroundings, with a surprising and contrasting interior that feels almost sacred.

Chapel of Our Lady Na Pískách, Čečelice
In the open and expansive landscape stands a small, introverted chapel with surprising views that allow glimpses inside. Silence in its purest form.

Footbridge over the Vltava in Lužec nad Vltavou
The bridge appears as a slender line in the landscape, its slimness made possible by the use of ultra-high-strength concrete, and its beauty arises from the precise technical details. Both abutments have also been sensitively incorporated into the surrounding landscape.

Forest Kindergarten Parukářka, Prague
This group of smaller buildings creates a spatially stimulating environment. It is a safe place in an urban park intended for play and exploration of nature, seasons, and natural elements.

NOOX Living, Brno
The conversion of existing unused spaces on the ground floor of an apartment building into three simple housing units proves that interesting living spaces can be created even with limited resources.

Restoration of the Mill Gate with a Transformer Station, Kroměříž
In Kroměříž, the technical equipment was sensitively integrated into the historical context, which is an exceptionally relevant task in relation to energy transformation.

Park on Moravian Square in Brno
A clear and distinct intervention transformed a neglected park into a public space of great significance for the local community.

Příšovice Square
Creating or revitalizing places that offer communal activities for small communities is a very current and relevant task. The Příšovice square can serve as a good example of how to meet this challenge.

Reconstruction and Extension of the Era Production Building, Pardubice
Successfully managing a comprehensive reconstruction and expansion of a manufacturing facility while in operation is impressive in itself. However, the true exceptional nature of the project is that the architecture precisely matches the character of the investor.

Reconstruction of the Former Train Station Warehouse in Řevnice - Community Center Sklad_13
Through simple means, the former warehouse has been transformed into a place serving the local community. This has resulted in a socially inspiring example that hopefully will be followed.

Reconstruction of the Historical Waterworks Complex of the Former City Water Towers, Yellow Hill in Brno
Making existing engineering structures accessible and thereby opening up the world that remains hidden to many, combined with their sensitive integration into the landscape represents an enriching benefit not only for the city of Brno.

Family House Polanka nad Odrou
In simplicity lies beauty - this is a family house with a clear structure and floor plan. Sympathetic and practical.

St. Wenceslas Grill in the Church of St. Bartolomej, Kolín
This "translation" of the song's text into a visual poetic composition captures attention and evokes awe. The combination of dark steel rods and shiny "notes" playfully interacts with daylight.

Tea House Pavilion, Český Těšín
The Tea House Pavilion is a minimalist and meticulously designed object. An ideal place for calming and contemplation.

Veritas, Hoštka
Veritas is a small and distinctive building that subtly fits into the landscape.

Victoria Palace, Prague
Victoria Palace represents a meticulously executed urban placement of a large residential building into the historical context.

Sidonius Villa, Černošice
Sidonius is a bold and distinctive house that maximally utilizes the potential of the land and is thoroughly crafted down to the smallest detail.

Villa in the Garden City, Prague
A natural solution was sensitively found for how to expand and modernize the villa, with great emphasis on detail. Special attention was paid to the relationship between the interior and exterior.

Vohančice - Complex of Anti-Erosion Measures and Landscape Adjustments
Water and wind erosion, exacerbated by climate change, necessitates interventions in the landscape. This project demonstrates that such interventions can be an opportunity both for landscape restoration and for the development of the local community.

The Artistic Studios of the Faculty of Education, Brno
This relatively small extension has a significant impact on both the building itself and education. The contrast between the original structure and the new intervention is stimulating and acts as an artwork.
