Airports have become important places in recent decades, through which an ever-increasing number of passengers and goods flow. As their numbers grow, so do the demands for ensuring maximum safety and smooth airport operations. A significant role in securing smooth handling of cargo and efficient passenger check-in is played by high-speed doors from EFAFLEX at many locations. Thanks to their variability and the range of types offered, they can safely and reliably ensure the operation of all parts of airport activity.

Safety of people and goods comes first

To ensure safe movement at the airport, a range of processes, procedures, and security checks have been established that must all be aligned. Each element of this process is subject to high demands, making careful planning of all processes necessary to reduce the risk of delays, queues, and overload. EFAFLEX has developed a series of high-speed doors tailored to the specific needs of the airport sector, which are also very fast, reliable, and can withstand wind loads of up to 220 km/h.

Documentation for Architects and Easy Implementation

To facilitate the implementation and introduction of proven and reliable solutions in practice, EFAFLEX has prepared detailed tender documents for all products for architects and designers. And that's not all – interested parties are offered the opportunity for free consultations where they can learn more about all aspects of using high-speed doors, from the suitability of individual types to the correct arrangement of door systems.

EFAFLEX doors are specifically designed for the busiest areas of airport operations, helping to expedite the processing of people, luggage, and goods. However, they do not only serve at handling areas; they also play an indispensable role in energy savings throughout airport operations and in many other places – for example, where fuel is dispensed and where even more demanding safety requirements are placed on door systems.

Doors Suitable for Airport Operations

Airports have a variety of operations that significantly differ in function. Therefore, for each of them, a door system must be selected that fully meets all the requirements for its operation with maximum safety and reliability. Which doors are suitable where?

High Traffic Areas
For these locations, the high-speed spiral doors of the EFA-SST series are ideal. They feature excellent insulation, long service life, and reliability. The doors are constructed for high loads (up to 250,000 opening cycles per year) and also have high wind resistance.

Refrigerated and Freezer Spaces
A large amount of goods passes through the airport that needs to be stored in refrigerated space. The doors in these areas must withstand extremely high loads and exhibit absolute resistance of all components to cold and moisture. They must also meet high insulation requirements. The EFA-SST ISO-60 doors are suitable for refrigerated spaces, while the EFA-SST TK-100 doors are for freezer spaces. Both types of doors are designed for high loads and boast excellent insulation.

EFA-STT Turbo Doors
Doors that are unique in their design. With panels made of crystal-clear acrylic glass, the EFA-STT series doors are over 70 percent transparent. This enhances safety and prevents accidents. Additionally, the doors are designed so that the panels do not wear out from frequent openings. The special winding of the panels ensures that they remain almost unworn even after years.

Doors for Explosive Environments
The ideal doors for explosive environments are from the EFA-SST EX series. They are designed for outdoor and indoor use in explosion-risk environments and feature high opening and closing speeds with optimal sealing thanks to double-walled aluminum bars combined with a transparent panel. They are suitable for use in explosion protection zones 1 and 2, optionally available upon request for protection zones EX 21 and 22.

Areas with Extreme Loads
Baggage handling areas are among the busiest spaces at airports. Therefore, these areas are secured with doors that have the highest annual number of opening cycles, up to 500,000. The EFA-SRT MHT doors can achieve this, distinguished by a compact design with controls integrated into the frames and a self-supporting structure. This allows for easy integration even into complex systems, such as baggage handling areas at airports.
