The prestigious Red Dot design award 2019 was won by a trio of door handle models Cobra Q - Ultima, Spectra, and Infinity. The two-year collaboration between the largest Czech supplier of door fittings Cobra and renowned designer Petr Novague thus culminated in an incredible success.

When in 2017 COBRA bet on cooperation with designer Petr Novague for the development of new door fittings, they truly hit the jackpot. Over two years, they succeeded in developing a trio of design handles that significantly surpass the standards usual even in the demanding market of premium door fittings.


The entire Q collection has already managed to win the prestigious German Design Award and the Iconic Award, but this year the models Ultima, Spectra, and Infinity in black managed to assert themselves in the most prestigious global design competition - Red Dot Award 2019.

What does designer Petr Novague think about the Red Dot Award? "I believe that design is a key property of the product. Functionality and quality are, in our case, a given; design provides an edge and distinction from the competition. Thus, the prestigious Red Dot Award is the best way for Cobra to verify its position against both domestic and global competition."


The distinguishing feature of the trio of Cobra Q handles is their perfect ergonomics and pleasant surface. They are made from a single piece of premium Zamac alloy, guaranteeing sufficient hardness and durability.

The minimalist shapes predispose the handles for modern or stylish interiors, where they can enhance the impression of quality and luxury. This year's variant with a matte black finish also aligns with the latest interior trends favoring darker colors.

"I am pleased with the success of Cobra Q in the fact that although the handles are different and provide varying haptic experiences, all three have achieved such a prestigious award," says Petr Novague. "The expert jury focuses not only on aesthetic quality but also on the functionality of the products. Ergonomics was crucial in our case, especially in the Spectra model, which is truly innovative."


The Cobra Q door fittings confirm that a handle does not have to be just a mere functional element of the home. It can enhance the style and color tones of the interior.
