The company Schüco, the world leader in building envelopes, is expanding its range of new generation aluminum window systems AWS (Aluminium Window System) and from February 2011, as the very first manufacturer of aluminum window systems, will offer a new product in the form of the aluminum window system Schüco AWS 90.SI+, which fully meets the thermal insulation values at the level of passive houses. The new Schüco AWS 90.SI+ window system combines the advantages of aluminum with progressive thermal insulation values, thus creating the potential for sustainable architecture of the future. In conjunction with triple glazing (glass thermal transmittance coefficient Ug = 0.6 W/m²K) and "warm" edges, the aluminum construction with a structural depth of 90 mm achieves a heat transfer coefficient for the window Uw = 0.8 W/m²K (assuming standard dimensions of 1.23 x 1.48 m and visible width of 117 mm).
The latest generation of Schüco AWS 90.SI+ windows represents energy-efficient and sustainability-oriented solution options in construction. These excellent thermal insulation values at the level of passive house standards have been achieved with the new aluminum window system Schüco AWS 90.SI+ primarily due to an optimized and enlarged insulation zone with foam-filled insulation bridges, large-volume co-extruded central seals with "chambers," and a modern principle of thermal insulation in the glazing groove. In combination with the hidden mechanical hardware Schüco AvanTec, the Schüco AWS 90.SI+ window system also allows for a narrow visible width of up to 64 mm and a window sash weight of up to 160 kg. Depending on the chosen type of hardware, burglary protection can be ensured up to resistance class WK3. In addition to the hidden mechanical hardware AvanTec, Schüco also offers hidden mechatronic hardware TipTronic for connection to automated building control.
The Schüco AWS 90.SI+ window profile is based on the modular AWS system, ensuring compatibility with Schüco aluminum door systems from the ADS 90 PL.SI series, which will be introduced to the market this year. The excellent utility properties of aluminum guarantee not only outstanding energy standards but also the possibility of choice from a diverse range of design options. Thanks to its unique properties, aluminum is becoming the material of the future for construction. Aluminum offers a number of benefits not only in design but also in terms of the construction and performance/functionality of building elements; it is a material that is lightweight, strong, with low maintenance requirements, corrosion-resistant, durable, and easy to shape in detail. Moreover, the lifespan of aluminum windows, doors, and facades is usually longer than the lifespan/utilization time of the building itself. Due to recycling processes and modern production upgrades, the negative impact caused by the production of aluminum constructions on the environment and sustainable development is continually decreasing.
