A brand new "shop in shop" exhibition of the legendary Italian furniture brand Edra opens on September 30 at the Decoland Design Interiors showroom on Vinohradská Street 190 in Prague. The Edra brand is known for its designer furniture and brilliant arrangements, drawing on the Tuscan tradition of precise craftsmanship, which is combined with uncompromising development of its own technological processes. The furniture of the Edra brand is characterized by a touch of exclusivity and an extension into conceptual design, with the Vermelha chair made from nautical ropes even becoming part of the MoMA exhibition in New York. Edra furniture fits beautifully in both minimalist and classic interiors, designed by renowned names such as Fernando and Humberto Campana, Francesco Binfaré, and Masanori Umeda. The opening of the Edra exhibition at the Decoland showroom took place with the personal presence of the son of Edra's founder, Mr. Nicollo Mazzei. In addition to Edra furniture, the Vinohradská showroom also recently offers lamps from the collection of design fixtures by the Czech glass and design company Lasvit.
The Edra exhibition at the Decoland showroom on Vinohradská Street in Prague spans an area of one hundred square meters and features a selection of furniture and accessories typical of this Italian design legend. Here you will find the sofa On the Rocks by Francesco Binfaré, evoking ice floes; the 18th-century English-style sofa Sfatto; the customizable sofa Standard with a "smart" cushion that serves as both a backrest and an armrest; and the traditional-sized sofa Sofà. Notable pieces include the famous "rope" chair Vermelha by Humberto Campana, which is part of the MoMA exhibition in New York and consumes 500 meters of special rope to produce; the chair with "spaghetti" backrest Jenette; the Brasilia table inspired by the mosaic windows of a church by architect Oscar Niemeyer in the same-named city; the Campana chandelier; the Miraggio wall mirror; and of course, the iconic armchairs Rose Chair and Getsuen by Masanori Umeda, inspired by rose and lily flowers. Also part of the exhibition is the Gina chair, presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, with its seat and backrest shape reminiscent of shimmering embroidery due to the play of light and shadow, and the radiant Scrigno dresser. Exclusively for the opening of the exhibition, the "braided" sofa Boa by Humberto Campana was also borrowed, which is literally woven by hand and foot and takes exactly a week to complete.
Representatives of the EDRA brand did not choose Decoland for collaboration by chance. “During its more than ten years of existence, the Decoland showroom has introduced the best of global furniture brands to the Czech public, thus educating them in a way. We are pleased that we can present the philosophy and know-how of the Edra brand right here,” says Nicollo Mazzei. “The entire exhibition of the Decoland showroom is also very sensitively arranged and showcases the latest design trends. Thanks to the careful selection of brands focusing on perfect craftsmanship and the highest quality of materials, we know that Edra will be in good company here. It’s an important step for us towards new markets,” adds Mazzei.
Along with Edra furniture, unique lamps from the collection of design fixtures by the Czech glass and design company Lasvit are now also available in the Vinohradská Decoland showroom. These are characterized by a combination of traditional Czech glass production with technologies and innovative design from global designers. Decoland has included light objects from designers Arik Levy and Maxim Velčovský in its exhibition.
“It is a great honor and a challenge for us that the Decoland portfolio is expanding specifically with the Edra and Lasvit brands. We will continue to strive to keep the bar as high as possible and to make icons of global and Czech design accessible to lovers of design and culture of living in general, so that living with Decoland is a joy,” agree the owners of Decoland Miloslav Kolařík and Leoš Srpek.
