The extension of Eduard Beneš School in Čakovice - wood in the construction and in the classrooms

In recent years, the environment of school interiors has been changing significantly. It is well known that the comfort and attention of students are greatly influenced by the color of the classrooms as well as the types of materials used. Hardly anyone questions the exceptionally positive properties of wood in this regard, yet its use in our schools is still not common. The elementary school Eduard Beneš in Čakovice decided to set an example. For the reconstruction, during which the original roof with an unused attic was replaced with a roof extension, it chose wood, in the form of large-format solid NOVATOP panels. This has resulted in two new classrooms and two teacher's offices. The project was implemented by the company ARCHCON atelier, s.r.o. The author of this bold solution, Ing. Irena Truhlářová, succeeded in achieving what other studios consider impossible.
