Autostyl Trutnov: transformation of an industrial building into a modern multifunctional space

The building of the former Texlen factory on Horská Street in Trutnov has undergone a significant transformation that sensitively combines historical elements with modern technologies. The Autostyl project's redesign has turned the decaying industrial object into a representative space that now serves as a car showroom, service center, and offices for the Trutnov City Hall. The combination of the private and public sectors in one building is an inspiring example of effective use of the existing urban infrastructure.

Sensitive Transformation of a Former Textile Factory

The original building from the second half of the 20th century had been abandoned for many years and required a complete renovation. The goal of the project was to create a modern multifunctional center that offers comfortable spaces for clients and employees.

The reconstruction was carried out according to the design by Oikoi architects s.r.o., with the key aspect being the preservation of the industrial character – generous glass areas, concrete structures, and the original façade – and their integration with modern elements. The installation of dry construction systems was provided by Kalin, spol. s r.o., which ensured the precise execution of all details.

Spatial Acoustics as a Key Element of the Space

The modern interior of the Autostyl Trutnov building was created through the comprehensive use of Rigips systems, which brought not only aesthetic quality but also functional benefits in the areas of acoustics, durability, and comfort. Acoustic ceilings Rigitone were installed in the showroom and representative spaces. Thanks to their seamless design, they appear elegant while ensuring excellent spatial acoustics. This element is particularly crucial in open spaces, where it is necessary to eliminate unwanted echo and provide a pleasant environment for clients.

Offices are undoubtedly spaces where it pays to address optimal spatial acoustics, exceeding legal standards. Proper speech intelligibility and sufficient peace for work demonstrably increase employee performance and motivation. Several types of visible systems were utilized in the municipal office spaces. Among them are Gyptone ceiling tiles with perforation, which help absorb sound and improve the aforementioned speech intelligibility. As a result, work in the offices is more comfortable, and communication among employees is more effective. Another advantage of the tiles is the easy integration of lighting and other elements, their dismantlability, and quick installation. Acoustic ceilings Rigitone and Gyptone allow for various perforations and patterns that can be harmonized with the architectural concept.

In areas with higher demands for durability and easy maintenance, Eurocoustic ceilings were used, which combine acoustic effectiveness with moisture resistance – ideal for spaces with intense use. Additionally, they are available in many different shades and color combinations, allowing for the creation of a space that catches the eye at first glance.

Walls That Consider Acoustics and Durability

For wall constructions, the choice fell on gypsum RigiStabil boards, which, due to their high strength, allow for secure anchoring of heavier objects and furniture without the need for additional reinforcements. This benefit is particularly appreciated in automotive service areas and offices, where flexible installation of equipment is necessary. In places where airborne sound insulation was a priority, the Blue acoustic board Rigips was utilized – a special gypsum board with high-density core, which effectively reduces noise transfer between rooms and ensures privacy and a calm working environment.

The perfect appearance of surfaces was then refined with MAX and Rifino Top powder fillers. Both fillers can be used for jointing gypsum board as well as for finishing. Furthermore, Rifino Top helps create a smooth surface ready for painting without the need for sanding, achieving a Q4 surface quality. At this quality, the surface is suitable for the application of special metallic or vinyl wallpapers with a gloss finish. Thanks to these solutions, the interior gained aesthetic purity that underscores the modern character of the entire building.

Challenges that Turned into Success

The reconstruction required a sensitive approach to the original structure and compliance with current requirements for acoustics, comfort, and durability. All this while maintaining the demand for creating a multipurpose space. Thanks to the precise work of the implementation team and the use of Rigips system solutions, it was possible to create a space that respects history while also offering modern functionality.
