The fifth and final part of the series Landscape Exchange will be a discussion on the urban transformation of contemporary agricultural territories in metropolitan and rural areas. Our guest will be Milica Topalović, an architect, researcher, and assistant professor of architecture and urban planning at ETH Zurich. Milica will talk about the research methods and themes of her territorial surveys and projects in the rural areas of Singapore, Switzerland, and the Nile Valley.
Milica Topalović's work addresses the urgent transformational processes that suburban areas are exposed to through the movement of capital, social restructuring, and climate change. Together with her team and ETH students, she has conducted a number of territorial studies worldwide in an effort to decentralize and "green" architects' approaches to cities and urbanization as such. The Architecture of Territory program at ETH reveals these concerns within the context of architectural education and opens up broader fields for teaching, research, and architectural practice.
