The Znojmo city council commissioned a study for the conversion of the municipal baths into a sports hall

Znojmo - The Znojmo city council has commissioned the preparation of an architectural study for the conversion of the former municipal baths into a sports hall. This is in response to the results of the March referendum, in which the majority of voters chose this transformation option. At the same time, the city is addressing the modernization of the building and the expansion of the city office in Armády Square and is considering relocating the library to the former post office building in Horní náměstí, as stated in a press release by city spokesperson Petra Šuláková.

The city leadership is following the referendum results even though they were not binding due to lower participation. The study for the conversion of the pool, which has been closed for several years, will be prepared by the Burian - Křivinka office, which also designed the swimming pool and pool in Louka. It is expected to be completed in 14 weeks. "During the preparation, the concept will be consulted with representatives of the city, local sports clubs, as well as with representatives of government authorities and the public. The study will serve as a basis for the assignment of further stages of project documentation and for applications for possible grants," said Deputy Mayor Jakub Malačka (Naše Znojmo).

Voters in the referendum also rejected the establishment of a centralized city office in the former fire station, which is why the city is working on modernizing the current office in Armády Square. An expansion of the office is also on the table. "At Monday's city council meeting, we will discuss the purchase of the western wing of the building, which is still privately owned. If the representatives approve the purchase, we will gain the necessary spaces where the administrative department could move from the building on Pražská Street in the future. We will start the gradual modernization of the building where the office is already located this year," said Deputy Mayor Jiří Kacetl (Pro Znojmo).

Based on the referendum, the city is also considering relocating the library from the no longer suitable premises on Zámečnická Street to the former post office building in Horní náměstí. It will also include a community center. "We are now assigning necessary measurements and preparing materials for the next steps," said Deputy Mayor Bohumila Beranová (Znojmáci).
