Zlín - The Zlín city hall has completed the renovation of the twenty-five-meter indoor swimming pool. The facility in the municipal baths complex underwent reconstruction in two phases, costing 48 million crowns. Further investments in bathing are also planned, the city hall spokesman Zdeněk Dvořák informed ČTK today.
In the first phase two years ago, the facility was statically secured, the roof was insulated, and the exterior facade of the building, including the glazed southern wall, was repaired. These repairs cost 18 million crowns. In January of this year, the second phase began, during which a Sports Center was added. "It includes a new stainless steel pool with a water temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, intended for organized swimming training for smaller groups of children to seniors, a small gym, and facilities for these activities," said Lubomír Matoušek, the director of the city company STEZA Zlín, which operates the pools.
This year, the gym and the entrance hall of the facility were also renovated. "The electrical installation, air conditioning, and heating have also been improved. The work finished in September, and the total costs reached 30 million crowns," Dvořák said. STEZA has modernized the showers and changing rooms at its own expense.
The city hall is planning further investments in the bathing complex. "We are currently preparing a project for an extension of a whirlpool to the fifty-meter pool. However, we do not yet know when the work will begin," said councilor František Pilka (STAN).
The city previously built a new Finnish sauna in the building of the fifty-meter pool, repaired the changing rooms there, massage areas, and introduced a chip-based check-in system. At the outdoor swimming pool Zelené, the children's playground was renovated. Approximately 350,000 people visit the municipal baths annually.
