Ostrava - Interested parties for two lucrative plots in the center of Ostrava have not yet signed purchase contracts with the city, which were sent to them several months ago. Mayor Petr Kajnar (ČSSD) told reporters today that the council proposes that the assembly approve a provision stating that the buyers must sign the contracts within 90 days. One plot is after the former flower hall at the edge of Masaryk Square, the other is on Seidler's embankment. According to ČTK, representatives of the companies have found that the first one has not yet reached an agreement with the city regarding the conditions, while the second is looking for investors. "Usually, investors have been eager for the plots; it has not happened yet that they delayed signing," said Kajnar. He indicated that if the assembly approves the proposal and the interested parties do not sign within 90 days, the contracts will expire, and the city can offer the plots to other interested parties. The tender for the sale of the plot after the flower hall was won back in 2009 by businessman Lukáš Semerák. ČTK was told today that his company Bonte Real wants to build there, but they have not yet reached an agreement with the city regarding parking spaces. "In the proposal with which we won, there was a building without parking spaces. But then the city stipulated that we must build underground garages there," said Semerák. Mayor Kajnar previously stated that the city made a mistake by not setting any conditions regarding transport during the sale of the plot. Semerák noted that the construction of the underground garages does not bother him; there will also be underground parking spaces at the two buildings his company is currently constructing in the center of Ostrava. "However, it would mean that we would build something that would contradict the proposal with which we won the competition. Additionally, we would then have to deal with passage through the pedestrian zone," said Semerák. He added that construction in the pedestrian zone has specifics that the city did not consider in advance. "In my opinion, the conditions were poorly written, and there is no alternative but a new competition," said Semerák. If he did not sign the contract and a new tender was announced for the plot, he did not rule out that he would reapply for the competition. In the building he wants to construct, there should be apartments and a pastry shop. The managing director of Nové Zahražany, which wants to purchase the plots on Seidler's embankment, Michal Šourek, told ČTK today that the company is still interested in the plots and is preparing to sign the contract. "The reason we have not signed the contract yet is the negative development of the economic situation in Ostrava. Some investors have withdrawn, and we are looking for new ones for them," he stated. According to him, the company wants to sign the contract within three months. The plans to build a multifunctional building on the embankment remain unchanged. "There should be restaurants, shops, and services on both levels of the ground floor. What will be above them is still being clarified," added the managing director.
