Zlín - The Municipal Theatre of Zlín has used the theatre holidays to repair the building and technology. In the summer, for instance, they will complete the modernization of the passenger and freight elevators in the main building, and will also repair the electrical installation and the stage control technology, said theatre spokeswoman Hana Vondrášková today, CTK reported.

On stage, for example, the curtain will be cleaned and treated with a fireproof spray, and there are plans for painting the stage floor as well as work aimed at improving the acoustics in the halls. Technical inspections and painting and varnishing work are also planned.

The electrical installation will also be repaired. "It mainly involves replacing the already outdated aluminum circuits, which are largely original and therefore beyond their lifespan, with copper ones," said the theatre's artistic and technical director Milan Houžva. The modernization of the elevators, which began during the barrier-free adjustments two years ago, will be completed.

"A budget of about four million crowns has been allocated for all the work, which will predominantly be covered by the theatre's own resources," Houžva stated.

The theatre will start its 71st season on September 10, when the audience awards Aplaus will also be announced.
