Pardubice - On Saturday, residents of Pardubice will have the opportunity to shorten their route across the rivers Elbe and Chrudimka at two locations. Where new footbridges are expected to be built in the future, ferries will operate all day. The city hall wants to demonstrate the significance these bridges will have for people, informed Miroslav Janovský from the press department of the city council to ČTK.

The ferry operators will transport interested individuals from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on a motorboat or dinghy. At the ferry station, visitors will also be able to learn from the displayed studies how the planned footbridges are supposed to look. The city aims to promote the upcoming project of revitalizing the park Na Špici, where the proposals for modifications, studies of the footbridges, and plans for the modernization of the canoeing facility will be exhibited on panels. Architects from the Pardubice city council will be available throughout the day to answer visitors' questions.
The footbridge over the Elbe is expected to shorten the journey for cyclists and pedestrians from Polabiny from the blind arm of the river near the swimming pool to the eastern tip of the park Na Špici in the Dubina district. The city would have to finance it from its own budget. The footbridge over the Chrudimka, made of glued wooden beams, will connect the city center with the park Na Špici. It could be constructed next year, with the required eight million crowns largely covered by an EU grant.
