Prague - The development company Codeco will build an approximately 80-meter high administrative and hotel building named Kolben Tower in Prague's Vysočany. The firm has received five architectural design proposals for the building, which is expected to begin after 2009. The company informed about this in a press release today. The planned investment amount has not been disclosed. According to Codeco’s marketing specialist Kateřina Kmínková, it is not yet possible to determine the exact area of the building, which will depend on which architectural solution the company ultimately chooses. The new skyscraper will be located between Kolbenova Street and Rokytka Park. Kolben Tower will be approximately as tall as the current Corinthia Panorama Hotel, which stands in Prague at Pankrác and is 79 meters tall. In the same area, there is also the tallest building in the country, the recently completed City Tower, which measures 109 meters. In the formerly industrial Vysočany, Codeco plans to build an office, commercial, and residential complex covering over 200,000 square meters. About 117,000 square meters is expected to be dedicated to offices, while apartments will take up approximately 88,000. Around a thousand new apartments are expected to be built in Vysočany. Kmínková did not specify how much Codeco plans to invest in the former industrial area in total. Later this year, the developer will begin constructing the Kolben Cube administrative building, which is to have 22,000 square meters of office and retail space. The construction of Kolben Tower will begin according to Kmínková immediately after the completion of Kolben Cube. Developers plan to build up to 10,000 new apartments on the sites of the former factories and workshops. Numerous other commercial and administrative buildings and complexes are also set to rise here. At the beginning of March, CPI opened a new hotel, conference, and commercial center called Galerie Fénix near the Vysočanská metro station. Among the members of the developer association New Vysočany, which comprises the companies involved in the redevelopment of Vysočany, are Codeco, Finep, Imos, and CPI.
