Lednice (Břeclavsko) - Lednice announced a tender for the construction of a colonnade, promenade, and amphitheater in the spa complex on the outskirts of the city. The municipality plans to start construction, which is estimated to cost 105 million, at the end of the first half of the year and completion is expected in about a year, Mayor Libor Kabát (SN, NK Association) told ČTK today. The city originally planned to start construction in 2011, but various issues delayed the tender until now.

The gradually constructed spa complex on the edge of the city already includes the Perla spa house and the Miroslava hotel with about 175 accommodation places. The target is 400 to 500 places. Now it's time for the traditional facilities known to guests from established spas, namely the colonnade and promenade. Also part of the project will be the construction of the amphitheater, which also considers connecting the center of the municipality with the complex and linking to the castle park and the Lednice ponds. "The spa needs a wider socio-cultural background, and this project will fulfill that need," Kabát added.
Construction was supposed to begin two years ago, but delays were caused by various appeals and also by the new law on public procurement, which requires separate tenders for the project documentation. Lednice will receive three-quarters of the funding for the project from the Regional Operational Program and 7.5 percent from the state budget, with the rest financed by the municipality itself. If there are no complications with the tender process, the municipality wants to start construction as soon as possible. "We expect that by the end of the first half of the year, and in about a year, it should be completed. This spa development is very favorable for our municipality. Further expansion will also depend on how this field develops throughout the republic," noted Kabát.
In 2009, Lednice gained the status of natural healing spas, with patients benefiting from the medicinal spring of iodine-bromide water. Patients come here after surgeries, injuries, and people with musculoskeletal issues.
