In Kolč in Kladno, the renovation of the castle wing will be completed; it will house a museum

Koleč (Kladensko) - The repair of the western wing of the castle in Kolč, Kladensko will soon be completed, and a beekeeping museum will be established there. Donors from the surrounding area are also providing exhibits for it. Construction work is expected to be finished in June, with a ceremonial opening planned for the beginning of August. This was stated by the mayor of Kolč, Lenka Skolilová. However, the public will have the opportunity to view the repaired exteriors on June 18, when the traditional honey fair takes place in the courtyard.

The new exhibition on Czech as well as Norwegian beekeeping will be open to the public year-round. Historically, the area around Kolč was a significant beekeeping region. The project, worth approximately 18 million crowns, is funded by the Koleč Foundation, which owns the castle, from the so-called Norwegian funds. "We are trying to restore everything according to its original appearance," the mayor stated. The museum will also feature a hall where cultural programs will be held.

The interiors of the castle already have completed plumbing, stucco, and partially flooring; the ground floor features brick pavement matching the original pattern. Most of the original paintings will remain preserved under the plaster, but visitors will see a sample in one of the upper rooms. There is still stucco on the facade and the staircase to be completed.

Another part of the castle is still waiting for repairs, and the foundation is trying to secure additional grants. There is also a chapel right next to the castle that awaits roof repairs. Almost nothing of the interior furnishings has survived, with most having been stolen. There is also a baroque granary in the courtyard. The municipality is partially contributing to the repairs and will also participate in maintenance.

The baroque castle was built in the early 18th century, but some elements of the western wing are a century older. On the site of a part of the castle in the 15th century stood a fortress and then a late Renaissance estate, which likely burned down during the Thirty Years' War.
