Chrudim - A new relaxation space in the former monastery gardens has been made available to the public in the center of Chrudim starting today. The city hall has obtained nearly 20 million crowns in European grants for the reconstruction of the previously inaccessible garden and the adjustment of the tourist route. Jiří Kadeřávek, the director of the Chrudim Cultural Center, said this to ČTK today. The area behind St. Joseph's Church offers visitors, for example, a children's playground, landscaped flower beds including a rose garden. The reconstruction also included the restoration of the perimeter walls. The entire space will be used for concerts and film screenings. "We are planning events here, for example, to kick off the Puppetry Chrudim festival and several other events," Kadeřávek said. The first concert in the area will take place tonight, and the organizers are preparing a concert by Richard Müller on August 28. The Chrudim city hall is also continuing to build the Museum of Baroque Sculptures, which is set to open on September 10 this year in St. Joseph's Church, which is owned by the city. The total costs are expected to reach around 100 million crowns, with around 20 sculptures anticipated to be placed in the main nave of the deconsecrated church and about ten more in the side areas.
