Karlovy Vary - In the Karlovy Vary Region, the construction of two transport terminals will begin this year, in Cheb and Mariánské Lázně. The projects, with a total value of approximately 200 million crowns, will be largely funded by the Regional Operational Program. The remaining funds will be covered by the municipalities where the terminals will be built and the state, said ČTK Deputy Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region Petr Navrátil (ČSSD).

The terminal in Cheb is projected to cost 117 million crowns, while the terminal in Mariánské Lázně will amount to 75 million crowns. Although the investor is the Karlovy Vary Region, it will only provide pre-financing for the constructions. Co-financing will be secured by the municipalities, as both terminals will be transferred to the cities after the sustainability period.
The state will also contribute 7.5 percent to the terminals since the grant application was submitted before September 21. Applications submitted after this deadline must proceed without financial participation from the state.
"The tenders will be held from March to April of this year. Construction is set to start in June of this year. However, the exact completion date will emerge only from the tenders," Navrátil said. According to estimates, the constructions should take about a year.
In Cheb, the project entails the creation of a hexagonal structure of a so-called floating platform in the space in front of the train station, which will be connected to the station hall by a covered corridor. The information systems of the train and bus stations will also be interconnected.
In Mariánské Lázně, the focus will mainly be on the modification of roads, sidewalks, and covered bus stops, which should be in a spa style. The terminal will also include parking facilities.
