Boskovice (Blanensko) - The construction of a new sports hall for various indoor sports is being prepared in Boskovice, Blanensko. The city has issued a contract for 57 million crowns. Thanks to the new hall, local volleyball and floorball teams will be able to play home games in Boskovice. It is expected to be completed by September next year, said Lucie Kolářová, the coordinator of public contracts at the city office, to ČTK.

"The city currently has no sports hall. The only usable facility is the gym of the Secondary School of André Citroën. Athletes train in the gyms of elementary and high schools, but these do not meet the dimensional requirements and matches must be played outside of Boskovice,” Kolářová explained. For example, volleyball players play in Žďárná, and floorball players in Letovice. Now they will gain a home base for both matches and training in the new hall on Slovákova Street.
The court in the new hall, which will be connected to the gym of the local primary school, will measure 44 by 22 meters, which fully meets the requirements for handball, futsal, and floorball. It will also be possible to practice other sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, and gymnastics. The audience area will have 150 seats and 110 standing places, and the hall will also include a bowling alley.
Construction is planned to begin this July, and it is expected to be completed in September of next year. The operator will be the city-owned company Služby Boskovice, and the construction is fully funded by the city from its budget. The hall will serve not only the clubs but also students from surrounding schools and the public.
