Blansko - In the center of Blansko, a dilapidated wall with several display cases, mockingly dubbed the hungry by locals, will be replaced by a new structure with a milk bar by the end of the year. Residents have been calling for its construction for the summer. The project, costing about five million crowns, is expected to revitalize the Svitava waterfront, where the town hall plans to create an unconventional relaxation zone to attract tourists. Mayor Lubomír Toufar (ČSSD) said this today to ČTK.

The display cases originally served to promote the activities of clubs associated with industrial enterprises in Blansko. However, in recent years, the wall has fallen into disrepair and created a neglected corner. Therefore, the city leadership agreed to demolish it and construct a modern building in its place.
The milk bar should be one of the stops along the Svitava waterfront. A cycling path is expected to be developed alongside it, likely by the end of this year. It is currently halfway completed. At the northern edge of the city, it will connect to a bike path leading to the nearby Ráječko.
In recent days, the city announced an architectural competition aimed at giving the approximately four-kilometer-long waterfront a new look. Plans include adding sculptures, green nooks, gazebos, and studies also propose building footbridges over the river.
