Lanškroun - Lanškroun is preparing the conditions for an architectural competition for the design of an indoor swimming pool. The town hall would like to announce it in the fall. City representatives want to visit pools built or modernized in recent years in other towns for inspiration, said Mayor Radim Vetchý (Lanškrounské fórum) to ČTK.
The pool is expected to have several swimming lanes of 25 meters in length, and will also include a wellness center with, for example, whirlpools, saunas, play elements for children, and a waterslide. "Today's trend is not just about having six swimming lanes where one would only swim, but rather pools that play a significant role in the enjoyment and relaxation of the people who go there, catering to all age groups," Vetchý stated.
In the first phase, a volume and layout study will be created, including a qualified cost estimate. The town hall aims to have the results by the middle of next year to discuss and present them to the public. The next step will be the preparation of project documentation.
The town will seek possible funding for construction. According to Vetchý, the National Sports Agency is a potential source; a suitable call for proposals will be available, possibly also from the Operational Program for the Environment, which supports energy-efficient projects.
Two weeks ago, Lanškroun officially commenced the long-prepared construction of the new Bóža Modrý sports hall. The winning price in the competition of nearly 88 million crowns is significantly lower than the originally estimated 122 million crowns excluding VAT. Even so, the town hall is looking for ways to pay for it, as they did not receive funding from the National Sports Agency. A potential partner could be the Pardubice region, whose secondary schools could use the hall.
According to an earlier study, the pool is to be located near the planned hall and athletics stadium. This would create a cohesive complex of municipal sports facilities. The only small indoor pool measuring 6 x 12 meters in the city is at the Dobrovského Elementary School, which is inadequate for public use.
